Hello there community, Admin here.

So I think one start here is to introduce one another, now you do not need to put identifiable information here if you wish not, so simply use your digital alias.

So, who am I?

My name is Rousel in the digital world, I am 20 years old and I have been roleplaying since I was the age of 12, I enjoy the Sci-fi and Steam punk setting over that of Med-evil Fantasy, but saying that I have played World of Warcraft for 6 of those roleplaying years.

My first introduction to the platform gaming was that of the Nintendo 64, my first game was James Bond: Golden Eye, hell, that was some game, running around with my golden pistol.

After this I played Zelda, my first introduction into Roleplaying and the idea of being absorbed in a character other then your self, I'd say this is the basis of where I come to love roleplaying, from here I few years later I got my first PC and starting playing a Game I had discovered at a internet Café in Southport, the game was called Ryzom, a none-class based MMO where you played one of four races and ran around loving nature or shooting guns.. because.. why not?

From here I moved to World of Warcraft where I have enjoyed many years of Roleplay, from Battle Operations to Sitting around the bar, getting drunk and chilling out, all in the aid of roleplay.

And now I am looking to move from World of Warcraft to Defiance, a unique Roleplay opportunity for my self and others, to have a great game and a rich source to take out Lore and the likes from.

My goals in Defiance is for one to bring about a Roleplaying community, as you have seen the Logo of this forum, it is run by the Hellbug Legion, a Roleplaying Clan I look to set up.

Game resume and introduction! Empty I am John Chrome

Post  John Chrome Mon Feb 04, 2013 1:00 am

alright so i expected more to have wandered here, but this is what i get for getting up super early here in the US on a Sunday morning.

My Gaming history starts with Pen and Paper Dungeons and Dragons when i first was in the US Navy back in 95.

i instantly loved it and my first character was a young man from detroit, uprooted and magically teleported to a very very different world(yay forgotten realms) all he had with him was a leather jacket, a very large dagger, and his guitar. i created this guy with the idea that since i was new to RP and DnD in general it would allow me certain faux pas and could be easily explained as my characters strange origins. what happened later is that an ex car thief/guitar player can quickly accustom himself to a new and frighteningly odd world. So my Bard/Thief beccame a very powerful force eventually. but things in my RL change, military orders transfers, and almost 20 years later, i have a wife and 2 kids.

during that 18 years i discovered MMORPGs starting with Asherons Call, City of Heroes, a small part of WoW, Shaiya, numerous other free to play MMOs, and in recent years Rift, SWTOR, GW2, and currently Planetside 2.

I am also a huge sci fi/fantasy fan. i love to read pretty much everything in the genre, but i am not one of those that remembers every single author i ever read most notably though is the wheel of time series by Robert Jordan and later brandon sanderson( no i havent gotten the last book yet, please dont tell me anything about it)

I am a really big end gamer/pvp type of gamer but recent years i have lost alot of time that i can devote to games so i am now more of a casual player. but i always have some time for some RP and i find that since i prefer walk on/ cameo appearance type roles i may end up like that here in Defiance. I will definitely log in here and join you guys in some RP forum style until the game is released!

Here there John,

Well this has only been up for a hour now, if not a little more and made from scratch, I've thrown the link around here and there, so now I'm just waiting for people to spread it around a little.

So taking from this subject, did you find the forum pathing/ interface easy enough??

Now going back on topic, indeed, it's nice to have you here and you're the first poster other then my self!

I have yet to experience any In real life roleplay, but I do look to join some LARP at some point.

I am also, along with this looking to put together a mercenary Roleplaying clan, as you can see the Logo at the top of the page. (Yet to do a tribute to the maker.)

i havent done any LARP myself that is a touch beyond my budget and time available although i love watching that kind of stuff. but a pen and paper is my favorite RP as it can go damn near anywhere if you have a good game master.

So far the site looks good! it feels a bit rough in transiting through the different forums but that maybe because of the lack of folks here so far! but all in all this is great! and hoepfully folks will start funneling here for the RP goodness. i do recommend that if this is going to be a major RP hub for Defiance that a guild/clan affiliation may drive folks away in fear of it becoming a bit biased towards that one clan. personally i can see what the goals here are but for others it may look like jsut another guild site. But for an hour old site it has the beginnings of greatness.

one other thing...when i was registering for the site the confirmation code was extremely difficult to read and i ended up getting it wrong but the account was still created. not sure how that happened but figured id give ya a heads up.

Well, the registration is not my own doing, nor is the links you see at the top, while your account is bound to this forum, the forum system as a whole is hosted /developed by Forumotion.

And I do agree that maybe I should look into changing the Hellbug logo to some thing specific and then expand on the Hellbug legion, along with other guilds.

But as it is now, I am what I consider from my research the only Heavy RP based PC Clan for Defiance, so I look to capitalize on that some, to draw people in.

Hey I am Escyos, I am 23, recent university graduate (Bachelor of Archaeological Practice) and have never played many online games before. I have played a few browser based games in the past and tried out Rift once (but Rift caused my computer to almost slow itself to death). But I bought a new computer and am ready for the Defiance launch.

As some of you know I did launch the Defiance Wiki (and created all but 1 article on it) so I know just about everything about the show, the game and the universe. I also am planning on releasing a wiki for people to post their character biographies and information about their clan.

Post  ashtara Fri Feb 08, 2013 7:28 am

Hey folks! I've posted elsewhere here as Ashtara Rugh, which is the character concept I've created for Defiance. Most of the web I'm known as shava23 or Shava Nerad (I'm very transparent on RL identity as I'm a known blogger on games and activist/blogger on other topics including more serious public interest Internet issues: digital divide issues, human rights online,...).

I'm taking something of a break in activity nursing my own health back (shellfish poisoning -- liver/nerve damage, nasty) and taking care of my mom (parkinson's) for a bit. So yeah, I'm a 50 year old gamer living with her mom spending days gaming. What a cliche! Not the usual path to it. And I actually am gearing up just this past month to start looking for FT work again though in this economy God knows what that really means... I won't be back to FT 80h/wk as I was, so it's going to be interesting finding something working for someone *else* -- people will be asking why, and why a break in employment and all that happy stuff. So hey, I may get a lot of gaming in, amiright? Wink

I've been a gamer since pen/paper/counter/lead figurines, pre-RPG days, which makes me really antique since I've got two X chromosomes IRL and I'm in my middle 50s. Betsy and I were the only two girls in the MIT Strategic Games Society in the late 70s -- we were very popular in a certain crowd, and freaks of nature outside of it. I have a son at Norwich University (private military academy) and I'm an unabashed liberal. I've worked in politics, business, international affairs, academia, NGOs, and it's all full of games. I refer to my last full time professional gig (founding executive director of the Tor Project --would post link but it won't let me you can find it, used to be part of the Electronic Frontier Foundation when I took it up) as a human rights LARP. Life is a game; gaming is life. I am full of contradictions. I'm really bright so people seem to think I'm insane -- so I learned to write really well, take complex elegant real ideas and iron them into digestible linearities. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it makes some people look at me like I'm an alien while others get gobstopped with epiphanies. Most of the time, I'm ok with that. Sometimes it makes me want to shoot something. So I game.

I started MUDding about the time MUDs started (I'm still an elder on DragonMUD but I haven't dropped in in ages). When I got pneumonia around the time SARS hit, in the early 2000s (scary timing!) a friend of mine sent me an early copy of EQ with a sticky note on the box that read: "Look what they did to MUDs!" I was laid up for three months. I had a laptop. I was doomed. Never turned back. As far as I know, I was the first designated crafting officer of a guild (The Raenore, Erolissi Marr, EQ) when Verant added bound crafted elements as requirements to epic armor and people suddenly needed mentoring for crafting skills even if they weren't crafters. As Calidora, I invented, so far as I know, the practice of spamming from the west commons cave hawking ten slot bags (I was the marketing VP for a dotcom at the time) so if you played EQ, you can blame me for that. Wink

I was Ashtara in SWG on Chilastra -- the only Trandoshan female on that server, oddly enough. Ashtara was a Teras Kasi (martial arts, hand to hand combat) master, sword, scout hybrid under the old system. Her backstory was that she had been exiled from the homeworld for leading a religious revival, claiming that the Scorekeeper wished the Trandoshans to turn from slaving and return to proper hunting and civil warfare (pvp-ish) rather than serving as trained dogs of the Empire. I had so much fun with her I never picked up crafting in SWG.

I was a key lieutenant in Eve Online's The Merchant Marines (TMM) and had to quit because it was taking over too much of my life. I can't even name alliances any more -- I've blocked them out. I won a $50 essay prize at one point on why more women don't play Eve. Heh. Had an electronic warfare PVP oriented account and a carebear account.

EQ2 for a bit with some of my SWG folks post-NGE, but it didn't stick. Neither did WOW -- lasted three months. Really wished they'd made it more like Warcraft.

LOTRO was big fun. I miss my guild there, and still visit (lifetime account) but I warned them that when SWTOR came out, I'd likely jump ship for the lore and hey Bioware (even if it is EA/Bioware). But SWTOR has great writing -- it's like a whole comic book studio of interrelated superheroes -- 8 or 16 of them (depending if you count subclasses, and heck 32 if you count genders of subclasses for RP sake) whose stories intertwine in one larger saga. Someone should write a concordance, but no one is -- the wiki really doesn't do it.

And you know, Aion, Rift, various and sundry. I'm a beta dillitant. Sometimes I find something that I stick with -- usually have two games I'm caroming off of at any one time. Sometimes get caught up in a single player for a bit.

But the real games are in real life.

Post  Aliyah Fri Feb 22, 2013 8:24 am

Introduction time!

I am female, 29 years old, a mother, gamer, artis/writer and traveler.

My native language is not English but I speak a total of five languages fluently. Currently I travel between the US and Korea for work on a 3 weeks in Korea and 2 weeks in the states rotation. My timezones are a little screwed up due to that and I am known to be online at very strange times.

I started gaming at the tender age of 11 when my brother's DnD group needed a drow, and somehow his friends all were of the opinion that I was evil and fit the role perfectly. I loved pen and paper and have kept with it, my favorite system now though Is WOD: VtM/R. At one point or another while living in Germany I got pretty involved with LARP for a few years helping to host big events like New Order/Mythodea LARP though I have since gotten married and moved to the US and finding any LARP worth going to in Florida has proven very difficult and I have given up on that.

My online gaming started rather late about 10 years ago while pregnant with my daughter. Eventually I got into NwN and played that for a few years. (One could say NwN is to blame that I live in the States now but that is a story for another time.)
I have done the hardcore raiding thing in WoW with a at the time ranked guild on Frostmane EU and played/ rp'ed in a multitude of MMO's such as AoC, SWG, CoH/V, Aion, STO, TOR, LotRo, GW/2, TSW, Rift and a few others that I can not recall. Other then RP I do enjoy clearing content and pvp.. oh boy I like pvp maybe a little too much. In mot of those games played I have led the same group of RL and some online friends as guildleader but we will not be playing Defiance as a group as our next official MMO will be The Repopulation sometimes later this year or early next year.

In my free time I write books and am about to be published for a third time, my real work is in the TV industry doing advertisement/graphics and currently translations.

I shall wrap this up, looking forward to interacting with the lot of you here and in game/rp once that is out!

Post  Verik Wed Feb 27, 2013 1:59 pm

Hello folks,

For some reason I've begun to adopt names beginning with V for my various MMO characters.
I've started with pnp RP as a young wipper snapper, worked my way through TT strategy stuff and various other board and table top games. Then I was introduced to MMO's. My first was LoTRO when it first released and since then I've played in and tried out many. My favourites for MMO RP so far have been AoC and LoTRO.

I'm not one for scripted RP really preferring the random dynamics of the "stuff happens" kind of thing. Game wise I prefer open world PvP type environments. I'm not entirley sure what sort of character Verik will be for Defiance but the possibilities are intriguing.

I'm hoping some of my RP guildies will be joining up too. That remains to be seen though.
I'd be very interested to know more about what social hubs and opportunities are in game.
I'm not one that demands everything be laid out a plate for me but some basics that make the whole RP expeience a little easier, more natural and a whole lot more enjoyable, go a long way.

Anyhow nice to be here and looking forward to learning more and plenty of RP fun.

Game resume and introduction! Empty Re: Game resume and introduction!

Post  iChinglish Tue Mar 05, 2013 7:09 am

So... I guess it's time I posted an introduction.

Name's... Well, my name's a bit of a mouthful for most and my forum username is subject to change once I get more details decided about my character, so... Yeah. Hi! Smile

I'm a Chinese-Canadian student, who's family lives in Canada, though I'm studying in the UK. My English isn't perfect, as Cantonese is my first language, though I like to think that I'm good enough. As I said, I'm a student, my subject is Mathematics, but I tend to take a lot of out-of-school modules wherever I can. Variation keeps things interesting! I'm (possibly) going to be the forum baby at twenty one years old, but meh... I'm kind of used to it.

In terms of gaming, I've been around since about 1999, starting with Half Life and Unreal / UT99 on the PC and Final Fantasy VII and Tekken 2 on the PS1. I've been pretty constant in my games, sticking generally to Valve and Epic on the PC and Final Fantasy and Tekken on the PS1 / 2, though when the PS3 came out, I went to the 360 side and got massively into Gears of War... Still Tekken as well, though. In terms of MMOs, I'm actually not an MMO player. I played WoW for a bit where I RPed a Night Elf Sentinel who was a traditionalist, though lots of people hated me for it, because ICly she was racist and a little intolerant. I moved from WoW to Fallen Earth, which was awesome, very similar to what Defiance will be I think, though it wasn't very well polished and I lost interest because game-play became a little stagnant for non-PvPers. After Fallen Earth was SWTOR, which I did enjoy for the story, but just like all the others, I got bored of it, finding the game-play rather repetitive. Then I moved to The Secret World which was fun, interesting setting and all, but again I got bored because it was still very much an MMO.

From an RP perspective, I started in WoW in the way that I mentioned, but I moved to a private RP server where I co-lead a Dragon Age based guild (which worked because it was a crazy all-GM build-your-own-place server), playing an Elf mage who started as an apostate, ended as the leader of the Circle. I RPed there for the longest I believe, I was on that server for a few years until I started RP in Fallen Earth where I played a nervous, red-haired Tech. I did love it there, I loved the setting and I loved the community, but I just couldn't make any of the 9pm EST start times for events, as by that time I was in the UK at University, so most events were starting at 2am which was a time that I was in bed by every night. SWTOR I was actually around quite a lot on the Progenitor server, playing a Miraluka Jedi who ended up being quite similar to Jolee and Qui-Gon, though that wasn't my intention when I created her. I was often around spreading my Miraluka fangirlisms, though I did also play a Cyborg Bounty Hunter on the Imperial side. When 1.2 hit, I got the best of both worlds, rolling with a Miraluka Bounty Hunter (best class and race in one combo!) but then I got bored and went to The Secret World, playing possibly the only Chinese Templar in the whole game! On the tabletop, I've played... D&D 3.5 and 4th, Dragon Age RPG, Dark Heresy and Rogue Trader, not that many, but I love them all. I also play Warhammer 40k as Eldar and Sisters of Battle, but I always lose because my armies are more "in-character" as opposed to the usual cheese that I find at Games Workshop. Meh, I don't mind too much, challenge makes it more interesting.

Non-gaming related things... I like to write fiction. A lot. Ill definitely be writing stuff for Defiance because the setting intrigues me. Heck, it more than intrigues me, I'm quite literally in love with it. Haven't come up with a great, fleshed-out character yet, got a few basics down, but I'm still lacking a lot. I also enjoy airsoft, because airsoft is awesome but expensive. Lucky I don't really drink alcohol as a student, eh? I also like to cook. I literally spend at LEAST an hour in the kitchen every evening preparing food. Hey, it's a life skill, I enjoy it so... Why not?

Really looking forward to Defiance and most importantly, really excited about RPing in it. For a shooter gamer like me, this game is pretty close to the perfect idea. I'll definitely be RPing in the game, as well as watching the TV show if I can find a place to stream it. Happy to meet you all, happy to find this place and happy that I discovered this game in the first place!

Hi everyone,

My name's Rich. I'm 39 and live in the UK. I've been role-playing since I was 7 (started on warhammer Fantasy so it was more roll-playing than role-playing). I moved into D&D, until I hit Uni and then my world of RP literally exploded. I've played everything from World of Darkness to Paranoia. From Call of Cthulhu to Toon. From Star Wars to Babylon Project to Serenity. From Pendragon to Rolemaster. I'm currently looking at introducing myself to Pathfinder.

In terms of computers, I've been gaming since forever and have played may RPGs. In terms of MMOs? Rift (still have active sub since day 1), DDO, STO, WoW (Briefly), LoTRO (until they lost my founders account during onwe of the many company switches), GW2, etc.

I also play Diablo III, Hellgate, XCOM and so many others, this list would start to become a TL;DR thread... Razz

I'm also a huge fan of the Mass Effect and Dragon Age RPGs.

I'm also part of a small but tightly knit group called Watchfire who play and write mainly super hero genre.

I'm really looking for an RP opportunity in Defiance. I'd like it to be something I can get my teeth into and see what happens. I would love to get my literary skills wet and wild on some Defiance fan-fiction. Any and all collaborations accepted Smile

If you'd like to know anything else, please ask.

Howdy all.

My name is Mike, I'm 19 and I'm currently attending university in Southern California. I've been roleplaying for just about 6 years now, not nearly as long as most of you though. I got my first taste of RP on World of Warcraft and remained there for a solid 3 years before moving on to several other games. I've played, and roleplayed in; Warhammer Online, Lord of the Rings Online, Age of Conan, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Rift and Guild Wars 2. The level of RP was dependent upon the game (LOTRO being famous for great RP, where WAR had absolutely none).

Roleplaying was a huge focus of my time in all of these MMOs, but I think PvP might take home the gold. Looking forward to getting at both RP and PVP in Defiance (with some PvE too, I'm sure).

I also can't believe how many Dragon Age/Mass Effect fans there are already. I've got a good feeling about this community already. Razz

Anyway, looking forward to getting to know some of you in the days/weeks/months to come.

Cheers.

Heh, well, I may as well introduce myself. I added my Character Bio looong before I did this so sorry. Anyway..

My name I Jakob, I am a Canuck of 22 years. Been keeping to myself mostly as I am now getting back into education for Theater. With that goes for my love of all things theater, while I have never been good with improv, once I settle into a character whether it be a play, voice acting, LARPing, or roleplaying as a whole. I dedicate myself to it.

I have been a gamer since I was about 12, first games I played were Act Raiders, Zelda: a Link to the Past, and Jurassic Park XD. Since I was a kid I loved medieval fantasy, and Dragons. So I played a little DnD, while I loved the storytelling, the paper and figurines weren't cutting it for me so I stepped up to LARPing. did that for 6 years till I moved to Toronto, Then work hit and my creative side went.... stagnant. I realize now that letting my creative side fall apart hasn't helped at all so I'm stepping back into it with Defiance, the world is very intriguing, and the sense of uneasy trust that just hums in the air in the lore is something I love to see. There is so much behind the curtains I just want to tear myself into it. I can't wait to play and RP with you guys soon.

God you lot are too interesting! I wish I could give you a 10,000 word résumé on RP but I can't LOL! I can say though that I'm old enough to remember when Warhammer Fantasy Role-play came out and that I think is where my fascination went from reading The Hobbit in infant school (kindergarten I believe its called for the US among us) to a full time hobby. Yeah good old Games Workshop was definitely my catalyst back in the day when it was bearable and you could buy huge blister packs of lead miniatures for £2.99 instead of £20 for 10 plastic equivalents! Admittedly there was less kids off school with lead poisoning but still its not worth taking a second mortgage out over. Laughing

Anyhoooo's, as you can probably tell I'm English and not comfortable with the term British as that suggests that Britain is united. In actual fact none of us are happy with ourselves or each other and WE ALL complain about the weather, that much is true! Wink

Although I've had my thoroughly enjoyable times in the PnP days (Vampire: TM and second edition DnD) I've found that MMO's is more my forte as that's generally where you find the player base for RP nowadays. I've been a guild leader and part of many great RP gaming communities, most notably the Laurelin server on LotRO who I will forever love for showing me that MMO's can have an awesome and respectable RP community.

Some of the RP guilds I've been part of and/or lead are as follows:

LotRO - Deepwinter's Defence (guild leader, very light RP), The Neranians (officer, heavy RP guild), Riders of the Riddermark (member, light RP).

DC Universe - Midnight Resistance (guild leader, heavy RP).

SW:TOR - Agents of the E.P.O.C.H (joint guild leader, very heavy RP).

.....and strangely that's all that springs to mind until Defiance!

I'm very happy that there's at least some people that are in favour of an RP community here though and I look forward to sharing ideas with you in the near future. Smile

Paul

(Oh crapsticks that turned into a 10,000 word résumé didn't it?)

Game resume and introduction! Empty Re: Game resume and introduction!

Post  Little Miss Nutmeg Mon Mar 25, 2013 10:25 am

Hello, everyone!

I am not really sure how to start this, so I will just talk about how I got my screen name! I knew this guy from what feels like a really long time ago by now, and we were chatting one day about something that I don't even remember, anymore, and he made a little comment about my name ('cause everyone just calls me 'meg') which was something like 'you're a nut, meg!' At first I was a bit insulted, 'cause it sounded like he was calling me crazy, or something. Anyway, he was never a really good typist, and so it came out like nutmeg, instead of a space between the words! It caught on, 'cause I asked him if i was spicy, or something, and a giggling fit later and I added little and miss to it, so it became my screen name ( Little Miss Nutmeg ), instead of being stupid and putting my name everywhere!

I swear, I was only born blonde!

The online roleplay started with Neverwinter Nights. A particular setting that was somehow dark and gritty, but compelling, and so terribly addicting that it would become the way I judge all other games by. I know that sounds horrible, but the community was great, the story was gripping, and when it finally came to an end I was so happy, but at the same time really needing another good community to immerse myself into and really feel a part of.

Which, is where it began. The downward spiral of games and communities that would just never make me really feel at home, and welcome. It started with games like World of Warcraft, Guild Wars 1, and City of Heroes / Villains. But, before I delve into how many years of my life I've wasted on blizzard, I should tell you that I am an avid painter of two decades, and really a lover of stories that tell grand tales. My family was a lot more ... uhm, nerdy than I am, and so a lot of their opinions of things really rubbed off on me. Not that nerdy is a really bad word, I just ... I cannot say that I have such an intimate knowledge of all things ... nerdy, that some people do? Anyway, getting off track again!

It is not that I am addicted to online games! I swear, that's how all confessions start ... but, I have been looking through the roleplay avenues for what feels like a decade by now ( I also played a game called 'Dungeon Siege', in a multiplayer setting, before Neverwinter Nights [ the original ] ) and I am kindof at my wit's end with it. After City of Heroes / Villains came to a sudden stop last year, it's been a struggle to adjust to the new Guild Wars 2 community, and World of Warcraft was never really going anywhere that provoked the same feelings that my first real online roleplaying experiences came from.

I mean, I never really got into the pen and paper roleplay. I'm a little jealous, because some of the best roleplayers I have met can roleplay in that avenue, but when I have to use my body like an actor does, I seem to fall flat. So, I found myself really enjoying the sense of community that Neverwinter Nights offered, but no longer does, and I've been like a ... well, i'm just repeating myself now!

And so, I just spontaneously grabbed at Defiance, to be invited to the beta event this weekend. I have been migrating around computer games with a bit of dispassion, casually flitting from one month of this game, or a few months of that game. As a casual gamer it is a struggle to find a place where I can meet other like minded people, and as an avid roleplayer ( I am terrible at that player versus player stuff ), it is hard to find a community to be a part of. Actually, that was the reason I recently stopped playing Guild Wars 2. The community there felt uninterested in sharing roleplay with me, and was sometimes even hostile.

After playing for like 6 hours of Defiance, since it took around 10 hours to download yesterday ... I really look forward to playing the game, but I am really very afraid that roleplay will be limited if no completely rebutted by the more dominant sort of shooter player. So now, after several hundred dollars investing in new computer parts and [ I always do ] getting the ultimate collector's edition, I'm nervous about Defiance, will it be the game and community that I have been missing out on?

I know I didn't really say a whole lot about me, but ... yeah. I am just trying to get out here and find a RP community to join as Defiance goes live April 2nd, and I hope that even if I don't stay here, maybe somebody will point me in the right direction? Even if it's right in front of me? Please?

Game resume and introduction! Empty Re: Game resume and introduction!

Post  Amicus Mon Apr 01, 2013 11:45 pm

Hey all,

Thought I'd just post real quick here to introduce myself with the launch now too far away now. I've been pretty bored lately and saw Defiance as a new upcoming sci-fi MMO which is a big change from the numerous fantasy genre MMO's out there, and a shooter to boot. At first, I was thinking it's just a fun action game to play, but then I got curious if it could actually foster an RP community (since with the television series, it's sounds like it'd have quite a bit of lore and story driven content) and that's how I stumbled onto this site.

To give a little background about myself, I've played through a ton of MMO's (EQ, FFXI, FFXIV, WoW, Lineage II, LOTRO, SWTOR, and probably a handful more which I don't remember). Actually, even before that, I did AOL chatroom RP and an early RP in a MUD called Dragon's Gate. As someone before me mentioned, I also never got into the whole pen and paper roleplay and kind of sad I missed the boat on that. I've only done RP in a few MMO's as I do sometime get caught up in the whole progression treadmills the companies tend to promote. In addition with family life, it makes it kind of hard to play a game or not have to step away frequently which is why I don't play too much now.

Defiance from the beta seemed really good though and I really wanted to give it a go, and if nothing to meet some friendly people to play with. If I'm lucky, I'd like to try and develop a roleplay character too to add some depth into the game, cause developers can only add content fast enough to keep players interested. Hopefully I'll find a way to get to meet someone of you, though I haven't really caught up with the lore yet except for the first episode and all the background information given in the gameplay reviews. It'll be nice to play again and hopefully absorb some more lore naturally through the quests and come up with a background for my character.

Sorry for my intro being all over the place, but nice to see an RP community out there and hope to join you all on the field!

Post  Garfunkle97 Fri Apr 19, 2013 3:33 pm

Hello all!

My name is Garfunkle, I'm 16 and am from the United States. I've been gaming for most of my life, although mostly in video game form. I have however had experience in play-by-post role play, I used to be a part of first a SWTOR role play, then a mass effect role play, and most recently a fallout role play. In all of those cases I left after a while, I believe this to be because the game universes that they took place in didn't quick "Tickle my Fancy" so to say. I'm pretty new to Defiance and am really looking forward to learned about what seems to be an amazing sci-fi universe, with outstanding story potential.

I started watching the show as soon as it aired (and am completely in love with it so far), and I am working on getting the game to run (Having some technical issues). I look forward to sharing many adventures with all of you! Smile
